HOLY F*%KING $#IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the best band in the history of bands. The best concert in the history or concerts. The best time you can have with your pants on. This is BONERAMA!

Still funky. Even just sitting there.
Ok, so I play trombone, and this is a trombone quartet; with a sousaphone bass, guitar, and some funky-ass drums. It’s technically possible that there is a remote chance that I *might* have a slight bias here.
I don’t. They’re that good. This is my new favorite band of all time. They played Hendrix. They played Allman Brothers. They played Beethoven. The show at Smith’s Olde Bar was simply amazing. Do you hear what the Josh is saying?

Getting Down!
Bonerama isn’t your traditional New Orleans’ brass band, even though that’s where they call home. They’re not your normal rock band either, although they play Sabbath. They’re loud, in your face, funk that just won’t quit. They put on a fantastic show. As a musician, they have my utmost respect, and as a fan, they have my unending support.
Go see them as soon as you can. Be there. Unless you’re in jail, and if you’re in jail, BREAK OUT!

Funk. Rock. Soul. It’s all there.

OMFG the funk. So funky it hurt. All the funk you can sop up with a bicsuit. Did I mention it was funky? I might have a little bit of a soft spot for the funk, but I mean damn, these guys brought it!
I *love* Smith’s Olde Bar. It’s probably my favorite place in Atlanta to see a band. Plus, they have fried pickles downstairs. Yes, deep-fried pickles. How can you go wrong?
I showed up to see the main act Papa Grows Funk from New Orleans (see upcoming post), but honestly, Gurufish is my kind of band. It’s like James Brown and Prince had a love child. Papa Grows Funk is badass in their own way, but Gurufish is my kind of funk.

If you’re from Atlanta and haven’t heard of Sam Thacker, you’ve probably heard Serenade, the opening track off his 2005 debut album Above the Underneath. If “you ain’t from around here”, or you live under a rock, think singer-songwriter with a mixture of Dave Matthews, Edwin McCain, and Johnny Rzeznik. Then stop thinking and just go listen. You’ll like it. Plus he’s got a new album due out this summer which is a definite buy.
Sam played along with the rest of the band to a few thousand people at Draft on Taft, a fundraiser for children with HIV. As a bonus, all you could drink beer. Here’s a few pics. Click on through to see them all.

SeepeopleS is rock, pop, electronica, and 12 other things at once. I’d call em post-modern, but then I’d have to stab myself for saying “post-modern”. The show at The 5 Spot was great. Good sound, good visuals, and good beer!
